New location concepts are intended to secure medium-term growth targets

After the crisis year 2009 also had an effect on Wintersteiger AG, the Upper Austrian mechanical engineering company is coming back with impressive figures for the 2010 financial year.  During the past reporting year, the company posted consolidated sales of EUR 93.4 million. The operating profit of EUR 9.6 million is also quite impressive, as it ultimately corresponds to an EBIT margin of 10.3 percent. The export rate was at 88.4 percent in 2010 and shows the international orientation of the Upper Austrian company. For the trio of managers at Wintersteiger AG, the result is by all means respectable, but the end of the flagpole has by far not been reached yet.

Two strong brands to join forces in future.

Ried/Liezen. While many companies are still travelling with the handbrake slightly on, Wintersteiger AG from Ried im Innkreis is focusing on expansion. As of the end of April 2011, the Austrian company will acquire the majority share of BootDoc Handels GmbH from Liezen. The well-known company from Styria is a respected specialist producing footbeds for sports and all day use, analysis systems, compression stockings and foam liners and in the business year just past achieved sales of some EUR 1.7 million.

Ried/Austria. Global market leader Wintersteiger presented one highlight after another at this year's Thin-Cutting Days at the company's headquarters. In addition to new and established products in the thin-cutting frame saw and band saw sector, there was also a presentation of two bandsaw blades with patents pending. With so much commitment on the part of engineering, no wonder that a large number of visitors found their way to Ried in Innkreis despite ice and snow.

Ried/Bad Reichenhall. Around three quarters of all the skis in the cross-country, biathlon and Nordic combination disciplines come from the German Ski Federation's Technology Centre in Bad Reichenhall. For many years the DSV team relied on the quality of WINTERSTEIGER's Micro NC and from now on its successor the Race NC will ensure the perfect finish for racing.

2010 begins with record orders and increasing market shares in all business segments.

The crisis year 2009 did not pass over Wintersteiger AG without leaving its mark. Nevertheless, in spite of falling sales the Upper Austrian specialist machine constructor reports a good result for the last financial year 2009,. With Group sales of 81.1 million Euros, the machine constructor achieved an operating result of 7.2 million Euros, corresponding to an EBIT margin of 8.9%.

With decreased sales in 2009 of 11.4%, the EBIT dropped 21.8% compared to the previous year. However, Wintersteiger is quite satisfied with the result.

Powerful yet at the same time gentle dividing. The Crop Spider plot divider has been developed specially to divide rape plots gently and efficiently. The machine can also be used as a swath mower.

Record orders for Ried's special machine constructor: Year gets off to good start as Upper Austria-based Wintersteiger AG records highest volume of orders in company's history thanks to large number of contracts in Seedmech Division.

Machine Constructor Among Top Six in Product Design

On October 22 the Austrian National Prize for "Design 2009" was awarded for the 38th time in the Museum Quarter, Vienna. In front of several hundred guests, State Secretary Christine Marek recognised Austria's creative industries for their services. The Austrian National Prize 2009 is awarded in a total of three different categories. WINTERSTEIGER was nominated in the category "Product Design of Investment Goods" and thus achieved a place among the top six.

Ried/I. 80 sports dealers from Austria, Germany and South Tyrol took up the invitation to the 7th Wintersteiger Golf Trophy on 25 September 2009 in the beautiful Kobernausserwald. The golfers were able to demonstrate their ability under perfect weather conditions - along with fame and glory there were also valuable prizes to be won.

Ried/Innkreis Numerous visitors attended a trend-setting exhibition with world premiere: World market leader Wintersteiger once again impressively showed its technology and quality leadership in qualitative wood thin-cutting at its in-house exhibition which took place from 16 to 23 September 2009.

Ried. The Bründl Group, a leading partner in the winter sports segment, has decided in favour of the Easyrent rental and POS management software by Wintersteiger AG. The Bründl Group (www.bruendl.at) includes 16 locations in prominent winter sports hotspots such as Kaprun, Zell am See, Ischgl and Mayrhofen and is a consistent trend-setter in the specialist sports trade and hire business. Wintersteiger's Easyrent system will be set up on over 120 of the Bründl Group's 20 workstations. Installation will take place in two stages: By the end of this year, the branch in Mayrhofen will be switched over to Easyrent and the Bründl branches in Kaprun, Zell am See and Ischgl will follow in 2010. In addition to this, Wintersteiger's Easystore system, which includes rental, depot and drying units, will be used in future at the Intersport Hausberger location in Mayrhofen.

Ried. The second Service and Rental Trade Fair took place from 24 - 26 August at Wintersteiger's headquarters in Ried. The market leader showcased its entire product range for ski service and rental on an exhibition area covering 500 m². Just under 200 dealers from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland caught up on product innovations and had the opportunity to follow the live manufacture of products from development and production to assembly during a tour of the company.
