Automatic "Mercury" with flexible modules – enter the world of high end service
Wintersteiger presents new service station for skis and snowboards.
The new Wintersteiger Mercury promises to be a trend-setter at the ISPO in Munich, where it will be publicly shown for the first time. This service station for skis and snowboards can be precisely tailored to various needs, letting you enter the automation class.
With its flexible design, the new product highlight by global market leader Wintersteiger offers new possibilities. The service machine Mercury lets you flexibly combine the modules Stone, Disc and Polishing to precisely meet customer needs. The machine's performance sets a new trend. The manual loading, with its loading and unloading skis in pairs, already offers a remarkable throughput rate; and with the automatic loading unit, this can be further increased to a maximum of 30 pairs of skis per hour.

The Mercury Effect
If it hasn't become clear why the Mercury takes you to the world of high end service already, it will, at the latest, when it comes to service results. Precise and clear base structure, sharpest edges and base edges polished to perfection – at both tip and tail area – make out the Mercury effect. The superb turning qualities and definite edge grip provide a better skiing experience and more safety on the slopes. With a stone width of 350 mm, the Mercury can handle all types of skis and snowboards. The proven swivel mechanism ensures optimum finish up to the tip. And thanks to the new hovering position, the grinding stone is precisely positioned. The infinitely adjustable stone and dressing speed as well as the double-sided, multi-state diamond dresser system provide an ideal range of structures; this can be extended even further using optionally available Racing packages. On top of that, the dressing unit – tried and tested in races – ensures structures of highest precision. As the Mercury makes use of the entire stone width, the time between replacements and dressing is extended, thus saving time and money.
Proven technology for sharpest edges
The Mercury's Ceramic Disc Finish for tuning side and base edges is exactly the same technology used by ski manufacturers and racing teams. The self-sharpening discs guarantee absolutely exact edge geometry, precise grinding angle, plane edge surfaces and consistent grinding quality over the entire length of the ski or snowboard. The reduced, constant material removal also extends the service life and will save the ski and snowboard rental a lot of money.
Finishing touch for perfect edges
The Polishing module is an effective addition to the Disc module. Its ceramically bound discs polish the base edge in the tip and tail areas and thus achieve an optically perfect base edge without the need for finishing. The high flexibility of the Mercury is further underlined by the adjustable inclination of the polishing disks. There is also an optional feature that allows choosing between two inclinations fully automatically – without having to dress the polishing disks. Thus, this new machine adapts to all kinds of skis and snowboards, whatever their quality.
Efficient & economic operation
Thanks to its compact design, the Mercury provides professional ski service in even the smallest space. Another advantage is the large selection of available consumables. The Mercury is also exemplary when it comes to efficiency and economy. All kinds of skis and snowboards are grinded without suction cups, and the grinding wheels offer a long service life. The Mercury automatically detects the length of skis and snowboards and applies the clamping cylinders so that the pressure is distributed uniformly, thus avoiding the time-consuming pre-sorting. At the same time, this ensures a long service life for the skis. The Mercury's closed system also allows for ease of use, a clean and quiet environment, as well as high safety for the operator.
Understandably easy to use
The Mercury is extremely easy and intuitive to use. The 15" color touch screen can be swiveled and tilted. The straightforward user guidance guarantees fast and clear-cut setting of the required parameters, and is tailored to meet all operator levels – from apprentice to expert.
