Practical test: X-Clean and X-Well thin-cutting saws at Tilo GmbH

Tilo GmbH in Lohnsburg with a production volume of approx. 1.6 million cubic meters is Austria's largest producer of natural wood flooring. The company located in Upper Austria sells its quality wood products throughout Europe an is existing  since 61 years.

A DSB Twinhead with 6 modules by WINTERSTEIGER is one of the assurance for the perfect cut at Tilo's plant. The high-quality thin-cutting band saw is mainly used for top-layer production of wider single strip flooring (3-layer parquet) as well as for the Xtra-wide Jumbo line.

Maximum precision, almost dust-free: The X-Clean thin-cutting saws.

The company recently switched to WINTERSTEIGER's new X-Clean thin-cutting band saw blades to minimize the dust created when cutting with standards saws. The saw's greatest advantage: a dramatic reduction in dust creation with maximum cutting precision.

Bernhard Werndl, Technical Manager at Tilo, says, "Thanks to the X-Clean saws, we have now reduced dust by around 85 percent on average." "Optimized automation results in significant financial savings with maximum precision particularly in the case of conifers." According to Werndl, the company previously had to struggle with a particularly high level of dust, mainly when cutting larch wood.

Cutting at Tilo is carried out with a kerf of 1.1 millimeters, the saws' service life is between 25,000 and 35,000 linear meters in total and each saw may be re-sharpened 5 times.

Totally on trend: X-Well thin-cutting saws for relax structured flooring.

Tilo is also very pleased with another WINTERSTEIGER innovation: the X-Well thin-cutting band saw blades. The special design of the tooth geometry enables the company to create both regular and irregular surfaces. This gives rise to unique floor structures which at Tilo are used mainly for production of what is known as "Relax flooring". This well-being flooring is currently very much a trend product that is used in the wellness area and equally in conventional living areas. X-Well saws are also used to create a special well-being effect for laminate flooring with a wavy, relief-like textured surface!
